Subject: Re: regarding flash renamer 6.2

Ok, I see. I still think that FR is having problems writing to the setting files. Try this:

Press Win+R and enter this:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\RL Vision\Flash Renamer\

Delete the file setting.dat. Then start FR again. This file should be re-created and hopefully you should be able to save your settings!

Because the setup program copies the settings to the common appdata folder, the files will inherit setups admin privileges, so only a real admin (ie with UAC turned off) will be able to modify them. Vista has a solution called Virtualizing that will automatically make copies of the files to a VistualStore folder (typically %userprofile%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\RL Vision\Flash Renamer\). This means that all users will have unique settings. If you don't like this, you can change the read/write privileges on the original files (typically stored in C:\ProgramData\RL Vision\Flash Renamer\) and give standard users write privileges.

> Hi, I recently changed to a new computer and reinstalled Flash Renamer 6.2. previously, whenever I had put in things to find and replace, flash used to remember them. So like that I had them in there instead of always retyping them in, and resetting flash. But now, flash does not remember my work from before, and I keep on having to reset it. do you know why? (hereís an example I work with- I find Ö _left, and replace.. with _003.) is it just a setting or is it my computer?
