Subject: Re: Question about DupliFind

Date: Fri, 29 Jan 2010 18:54:42 +0100

Following my last example, my original file looks like this:

aaa
bbb
ccc
aaa
ccc
aaa

Now I select "all by first" duplicate

[ ] aaa
[ ] bbb
[ ] ccc
[x] aaa
[x] ccc
[x] aaa

Then I save the file, and this is the result:

aaa
bbb
ccc

As you can see, only the selected lines were removed. All others, no matter if they had duplicates or not, were saved.

Dupli Find can work with multiple files. I recommend that you read the user manual for an explanation of how this works. Also have a look at the scenarios I wrote there, as I think this will give a better understanding of how to work with the program!

I want to basically be able to extract any ids from the larger list that are in the shorter list. the shorter list is used IDs. I want to make sure I donít double send to those same IDS in the larger list. can I extract dupes?

So typically you want to select "all but the first" duplicate line in order to create a file with only unique lines. (So: selected line = not saved.)

(If you look at the bottom of the screen shot I sent you earlier, you can see what I am talking about). Is this something I should be concerned about?

I have a PRINT SCREEN for you below. You can see where the scanned items are 1432853//found 997192 duplicate lines//with 183767 unique duplicate id.
