I was afraid someone would react this way... Open the settings and click on the "advanced" tab. Here set "Classic Counter Format" to 1.
Yes, I have tried to make it easier for "normal" people to use. The previous way was quite hard to understand if you are not used to tags and such. I have tried to make it easy to understand, yet still allow advanced users full control. For example, the enum counter tags can also be used from other functions, such as "Free Format", which essentially gives the same functionality as before, just in another place.
Let me know what other things you do not like. I listen to my users!
