The unregistered version will only extract the first 3 pictures it finds. It makes sense that these are of the background. You might want to try extracting from other pages to try it out before you buy it, although the background might be the first there too.
13000 image sounds like a lot. A possible problem that you might encounter is that the program that saved the pdf has splitted the image in many small pieces. At the moment there is nothing my program can do to fix this, although i have plans for future version to try and fix it.
Of course you will get a refund if the program does not work for you.
