ABOUT ARTGEM
artgem was created as a reaction to the lack of good paint software for PC, seen from a game developers point of view. Although software like Photoshop® have many features, we do not find them pleasant to work with. They feel big and clumsy and you lose control of the image. Being inspired by the Amiga classic DPaint, we have tried to create a tool that is fast and efficient for the kind of graphics we produce. And ArtGem has proven its usability, as we still use it for all our game and multimedia projects!
artgem was sold as shareware between 1999 and 2002, but because very few people registered the program (only about 200 in over 3 years) it was impossible for us to continue the development, and ArtGem has now been discontinued.
