I see. I was actually thinking about an option to include the root folder, but I decided not to to make the interface simpler and easier to understand. I will think about it more.

Well, since it is already very easy to clear the list ("blank paper" icon) I don't see why there needs to be more options here. Either you clear the list using the icon before you switch to explorer, or you don't, and you have the ability to add more items (which is also very useful if you for example want to drop items from different places.)
